Preparing for release — Preparing for release
Illustrated software package featuring Aster; not a physical product

DOWNLOAD / WINDOWS

To your PC,a start in streaming.

Preparing for release

A purchase will not be required to download the app.

Preparing for release

Public download is in preparation

When public distribution starts, the app download will be separate from purchasing. The release file is still being prepared. This does not promise that every feature is free or include a free generation allowance. Prices and usage terms will be announced separately.

No distribution file has been approved for public release. Unsigned development builds are not offered here as official releases.

Prepare in the cloud. Stream from your PC.

We are preparing a system that moves heavy character preparation to the cloud to reduce the load on your PC. Cloud features are not yet publicly available.

Planned cloud preparation

Processing existing images and receiving results have passed limited trials. Public new-character creation is in preparation; connected uploads, requests and downloads will require internet access.

Display and stream on your PC

Character rendering, camera recognition, OBS and games run on your PC. This is not a service that continuously streams your rendered video from the cloud.

Minimum and recommended specifications are still being measured. Even with cloud preparation, games, OBS and output size affect PC load. Smooth operation on low-end PCs and GPU-free operation are not guaranteed.

More: screen labels and differences from earlier versions

Limited trials verified cloud submission, GPU image processing, private storage, processing while the app was closed, and receipt after restarting it. Fully automatic creation of new characters and physical PC shutdown remain unverified. Public cloud creation is still being prepared.

System requirements

Operating system
Windows x64. Tested on Windows; the official supported version range is still under review.
Display
The adopted build has an 800×540 minimum window and opens at 1280×800. Allow at least 1280×800 of workspace after OS display scaling as a usability guideline. The minimum window size is not a comfort recommendation.
Runtime
Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is required. The current development build is distributed as a folder; no public installer with automatic runtime setup is available.
Camera
Windows-compatible built-in or USB camera. Real-face tracking, reacquisition, minimized operation and simultaneous OBS use need final hardware checks on this candidate.
Streaming software
OBS Studio browser source. The earlier OBS 32.2.2 test on 0.5.0 does not establish simultaneous operation with the current candidate.
CPU, memory & storage
Minimum and recommended specifications are still being measured. Even with cloud preparation, games, OBS and output size affect PC load. Smooth operation on low-end PCs and GPU-free operation are not guaranteed.

Checked on:

Model compatibility and video output to OBS are different

Current character and rendering data are app-specific. Direct use in other software and VRM/Live2D export are unsupported. .aster is the previous editor’s project format, not a complete backup format for the new UI.

OBS can display video through a browser source. This does not transfer a model. Permission to stream or commercially use that video depends on the asset rights and final usage terms. The format limitation alone does not prohibit lawful uses of your own original assets elsewhere.

Current limitations

  • macOS, Linux and iPhone are outside the current scope.
  • Choose a sample to check head direction, blinking and mouth movement. The appearance of expressions is still being refined.
  • The prepared samples retain their alpha transparency. Background removal during asset preparation is separate from automatic removal of arbitrary images inside the app. The latter is unavailable; opaque input stays opaque.
  • Image generation and automatic transparency for arbitrary images are not available yet. Real-face tracking and simultaneous use with OBS need final testing.
